Label-Reading Tips To Make Sure All Your Food Is Safe

Deciphering labels can be tricky, but here are a few label-reading tips to make sure all your food is safe.

1️⃣ Don't believe the front label. Always check the label that contains all the details of ingredients contained in the product.

2️⃣ Watch out for misleading claims. For instance, label says fruit-flavored. However, the product may not contain any fruit — only chemicals designed to taste like fruit.

3️⃣ Ingredients have different names. For instant, dairy can be mentioned as casein, curds, custard, diacetyl, ghee, lactose, lactalbumin, lactoferrin, whey.

4️⃣ Be careful of products with claims like “allergy-free”. There is not really such thing as an “allergy-safe” or “allergy-free” food because you can be allergic to just about any food (170 foods, in fact).
